Below is a list of frequently asked questions about your Toronto maternity photography session, which I hope you find helpful. Please take a moment to read through the questions and answers and don’t hesitate to contact Chandra Lee to book your maternity photo session today!
When should I schedule my maternity photography session?
Maternity portraits are best taken between 32 and 36 weeks of your pregnancy. We want to make sure your belly is nice and round and full. Chandra Lee’s personal preference is to capture maternity portraits between 32 and 36 weeks of your pregnancy as babies have been known to arrive 3 or 4 weeks early and we don’t want to miss your maternity photography session. Chandra Lee has photographed over 500 newborn babies and from personal experience while carrying her daughter and photographing pregnant moms-to-be, swelling occurs the closer we become to our due date and most women are generally more uncomfortable during this time.
What should I bring for my maternity photography session?
Items that are great for maternity portraits include the following:
1. maternity jeans or pre-pregnancy jeans that you can pull up over your hips (you do not need to be able to zip them up)
2. maternity yoga tank tops and pants
3. pre-pregnancy tops including tube tops
4. pre-pregnancy sleeveless tops (as long as you can button up the top few buttons)
6. strapless bra (both black and nude/white if you have them)
7. undergarments (both black and nude/white)
8. lacy undergarments
Please do not feel as though you need to buy any items for your maternity photography session. We can make do with whatever you have. The undergarments are the most important items as they are items that cannot be provided for you and we do not want to see your undergarments through the maternity outfits.
We want you to be wearing clothing that fits you snuggly to show off your beautiful baby belly! Loose clothing is not flattering for maternity portraits.
We are also happy to incorporate special items you may have for your baby such as baby booties, a teddy bear, ultrasound picture or any other ideas you may have.
Chandra Lee Photography has a complete maternity photography wardrobe including maternity gowns and wraps to choose from during your maternity photography session.

How long does the maternity photography session take?
Maternity sessions are 90 minutes in length. This allows time for you to get acquainted with Chandra Lee and feel comfortable during your maternity portrait session. Chandra Lee likes to spend quality time with each client to make sure your experience is positive. At the start of each session, we will go through each clothing item together and decide what will make you look your best for your maternity photography session. There is time for 3 to 4 outfit changes. We capture a variety of images on a white background, black background and silhouette images. Other background options are available if you have a special request. Your partner is included in your maternity portrait session with the majority of the images taken to enhance and compliment your pregnant figure.
What if I have a blemish or stretch marks?
Blemishes, minor stretch marks, scratches and bruises are not cause for concern. All of your images are retouched and these imperfections are easy to fix.
What do most clients purchase from their maternity portrait session?
Most clients choose to purchase the digital files from their maternity photography session. We also have a large line of specialty items including designer albums, gift prints, fine art mounted prints, gallery wrapped canvas and wall art collages.
