Baby Photography | Business Impact Award

I am beyond overjoyed to have been selected to receive the Business Impact Award for February through Essential Communications. Words cannot express my gratitude to the Ontario Self Employment Benefit Program and Essential Communications. Without their assistance, I would not be where I am today. Anyone considering a change to self employment should look into the resources available through the OSEB program. They surely helped me to achieve my business goals and gave me an advantage by the wealth of knowledge and support I was provided with.

Impact Award – Chandra Tim (Group 30)Sometimes careers take a turn when something life-changing happens. For Chandra Tim that is exactly what happened after giving birth to her daughter three years ago. Even though she had a background in corporate law, she embarked on a completely new journey … professional photographer. And the accolades & achievements have been so frequent that we would like to add to them. Chandra Tim of Chandra Lee Photography is the February 2011 Impact Award winner through Essential Communications.

When her daughter was ten months old Chandra stayed up until 3 in the morning reading her camera manual from start to finish. From that day forward and for the past two years she has stayed up until wee hours of the morning seven days a week teaching herself how to use the camera and how to run a successful photography business. To hone her new craft, Chandra dove right in taking over thirty photography classes and workshops as well as travelling to the U.S. to work with photographers she respects and admires. The missing piece to her puzzle was the business angle and that is where Essential Communications comes in to play. In 2009 she was accepted into the OSEB program and has taken flight at a very quick rate. After only 12 months of incorporating her business, Chandra has reached her five year sales forecast. Perhaps that is because Chandra Lee Photography found a niche market in making newborn babies the focus (ten days and younger, thank you!).

Because Chandra has dedicated herself completely to besting her abilities, customers and critics are flocking to her. She is a bit of a master at calming babies into a deep sleep … something that helps to keep them relaxed while the camera is snapping away. And if you think Chandra is just another person photographing babies, you best take a look at some of her images. One of her images just made Chandra a Gold Awardee with The Worldwide Photography Gala Awards. It was selected from 7,560 images submitted to the contest (only two percent were given mentions). It is going to be published in the book Portraits and People 2011. Chandra has also been featured with the Globe & Mail, has hired an employee, in April 2011 her images are being displayed at a New York City media event and is embarking on workshops aimed at teaching photographers how to pose newborn babies.
