A Sneak Peek of Beautiful Baby Mia’s Newborn Photography

I love working in newborn photography. There’s something so special about being able to help parents document the birth of their children in beautiful portraits, and few things are more heartwarming than being surrounded by such happy and excited new parents.

The session in which we did beautiful baby Mia’s newborn photography was no exception and perhaps even a little more exciting for me because her mother, Kalpa, is someone whom I’ve had the pleasure of teaching in one of my newborn photography workshops.

I got to know Kalpa over the course of the three day workshop, while teaching her how to pose newborn babies and about the business side of newborn photography, including marketing and workflow, as well as digital processing. On the third day, Kalpa learned about studio lighting and how to pose maternity models.

Each photographer who attends one of my workshops has the opportunity to return to the studio for a refresher day, usually within three months of their last class. Throughout her pregnancy, Kalpa suffered from morning sickness, and so we decided to wait until after her baby arrived to hold her refresher course.

This was a somewhat unique newborn photography session, as Kalpa got to snap some pictures of her daughter after I’d posed Mia. These are some of the portraits from that session.

I just love Mia’s portraits! The combination of the backgrounds we chose and the delicate accessories created a collection of newborn photography that is so feminine and sweet. A beautiful set of portraits for a beautiful baby girl!

I have stayed in touch with Kalpa since the workshop, as I like to do with all of the photographers I teach. I am grateful for the chance to know her on a level beyond just teacher and student. I sincerely wish Kalpa and her new little family all the best, and hope that her foray into the wonderful world of newborn photography is successful.
